State of the Island
Stakeholders gather for the “State of the Island” - a collaborative forum designed to assess the current conditions, share updates, and establish a clear path forward for the island’s restoration and future stewardship.

The Great Egmont Key Cleanup
We are CLEANING UP EGMONT KEY! After the 2024 hurricane season, the island has been riddled with trash and debris from the unprecedented storm surge. The USFWS (US Fish and Wildlife Service) received recovery funding allocated from Congress - so the cleanup is underway - but we need YOUR help! We are working with USFWS to do a civilian effort cleanup in the north 55 acres of the island, which makes up the Florida State Park. We will be cleaning up the beaches and the trails - with support from dumpster barges to take loads of trash and debris back to the mainland to dispose of properly.
We are so excited about this effort, and to finally get our Egmont Key cleaned up!!!
This will be a massive cleanup, in partnership with: Tampa Bay Estuary Program, Egmont Key Alliance, Suncoast Aqua Ventures, CCA, Hubbard’s Marina, AMI dolphin tours, and Organized Fisherman of Florida.
